Today I went to a memorial service for a saint of a woman, Ruth Dawson. I had only met her a few times in person, but I’ve heard so much about her. She had been a long standing member and pillar of faith within North Way Christian Community. I heard today that she was an outstanding prayer warrior, and it was obvious that her impact (along with her husband’s) on people was tangible. There was a thread of thought within the memorial service that was not planned, but I think many people heard it if they were listening at all.
She made Jesus real to me! She revealed the love of Jesus to everyone she encountered! Ruth was the most Christ-like person I have ever met!
WOW! These are the kinds of thoughts I want to have shared at my memorial service. However, these words do not come without a lifetime saturated in the Word of God and soaked in communion with Him. You don’t have these things said about you without having been with Jesus! This reminds me of one of my favorite verses of scripture…Acts 4:13 – “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”
Do you ever wonder what people will say about you at your memorial service? Having heard what I heard shared today about Ruth Dawson, I can only hope that people will say something similar about me. Kent Chevalier, my friend, my husband, my dad…he made Jesus real to me. That would be a good life!
Blessings to and prayers for the Dawson family.
